Sarah and Victor meet in a Parisian nightclub in the early seventies. For Sarah it is love at first sight, while Victor does not dare to decide at first. But the ambitious Victor cannot resist Sarah's charm and intelligence for long. They eventually marry and start a family. Together they live through decades full of passion, secrets, closeness and distance. Victor quickly rises to become a celebrated writer, while Sarah leads a seemingly unspectacular life in his shadow. The family owes Victor's success to a carefree life and social recognition.
