During the Nazi period between 1933 and 1945, about 1000 feature films were produced in Germany. With its own star system and the most modern means of marketing, National Socialist cinema wanted to beat the great role model Hollywood at its own game. The films were technically perfect and of great emotionality, and at the same time functioned as an instrument for those in power to entertain as well as educate and manipulate the people. For his documentary "Hitler's Hollywood - German Cinema in the Age of Propaganda 1933 - 1945" director Rüdiger Suchsland wants to take a closer look at the film landscape at that time. What do these films say about the Third Reich and the people in it? What effect did they have? And what can the current generation learn from them?
