When the days become significantly shorter in autumn and temperatures gradually drop, a colorful spectacle of nature occurs. In the Golden October, the peak of autumn is reached with the foliage coloring of the trees. Balloonist Klaus Sarinski takes advantage of the last beautiful days in Lower Saxony for his balloon flights and a beautiful view of the blaze of color. While stalking in the forests of Masuria, hunter Edmund Puzio enjoys the colorful foliage and the autumnal smell of the forest almost more than the actual hunt. In South Tyrol, the Kainzwaldner family celebrates the grape harvest with the so-called Törggelen, a traditional meal in convivial company. In Lower Saxony, thatcher Reinhold Junker uses harvested herb from the Lüneburg Heath to crown thatched roofs, and on Lake Bärwalde in Saxony, the sailing season will soon be over. For sailors like Lutz Grohmann, the Absegeln is the last regatta of the year before the sailboats are stored for the winter. Meanwhile, in the south of France, the marmots are also preparing for winter. Nature guide Jean-Sébastien Gion takes the last opportunity to observe the animals before they crawl into their shelters for hibernation. People and animals take advantage of the last warm days before fog and storms increase and temperatures decrease in November.
